NBC announced today that "The Apprentice" has been picked up for a sixth season with a new twist -- for the first time in "Apprentice" history, the show will be filmed outside of Manhattan and the tri-state area and will shoot in Southern California. The announcement was made by Kevin Reilly, President, NBC Entertainment.
Donald Trump will once again fire the shots, as well as executive produce along with Mark Burnett, as the new candidates vie for the coveted title of "Apprentice." The competition -- along with new challenges, twists and surprises -- also will feature tasks indigenous to and emblematic of the new locale.
" 'The Apprentice' continues to be a top performer for NBC so we're pleased that the show and Donald Trump will continue to play a key role in this network's future through a fifth and now sixth cycle," said Reilly. "We think viewers will agree that a California back-drop, with Donald's West Coast business interests and relationships, will provide an exciting new flavor for the series next season."
"I am honored by the great success of 'The Apprentice' and it's been a lot of fun working with Mark Burnett and NBC," Trump, Executive Producer. "I could never have imagined that firing sixty-seven people on national television would actually make me more popular, especially with the younger generation. While I love shooting in New York City, I look forward to filming season six in Los Angeles."
"Donald has so many recent West Coast projects, that it made perfect sense to change locations and along with it change the flavor of the weekly tasks," said Burnett, Creator and Executive Producer, Mark Burnett Productions. "Seeing Donald operate in Southern California will provide yet more insight into his remarkable world."
To apply for the sixth season of "The Apprentice" please visit www.nbc.com or www.apprentice.yahoo.com to download an application and look for casting calls in a city near you soon.
The current season of "The Apprentice," which remains network television's most upscale unscripted series, culminates with the live finale from New York City's Lincoln Center where Trump will select his fourth "Apprentice" (Thursday, Dec. 15th, 9-11 p.m. ET/PT).
It's all leading up to "The Apprentice" live season finale, Thursday, December 15 from 9-11pm ET. The two-hour finale will be broadcast live at Lincoln Center and will feature the conclusion of the final two tasks, a cast reunion and ultimately the live boardroom hiring of Trump's newest employee who will receive a $250,000 'apprenticeship.'
Tonight's 2 hours of Apprentice starts with the Clip Show from 9-10pm and continues from 10-11pm with Episode 10 "Shaniagans".
Each team must create a call-in campaign to promote the "Shania by Stetson" fragrance by using the advertising technique of "wrapping." Whoever gets the most calls to its 800 number wins. Season one "Apprentice" winner Bill Rancic steps in to replace George Ross this week.
One team sabotages their competition after getting wind of their plans. In one of the closest boardroom wins ever, the winning team beats out their competition by a mere five calls. The winners saddle up and share a dinner with world-famous country music star Shania Twain as the losing team heads into the boardroom to determine the final four.
This posting is COMPLETELY off topic, and it will be the only time I do this, so please bear with me.
First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to our US friends, readers, and lurkers.
More than any Thanksgiving in the past, I am thankful today. One year ago today, my father had a heart attack. He was stuck on an isolated island for 3 days before the weather allowed him to get to the hospital. Some of you may already be aware of this, since this blog was left unattended for about a month while I looked after his home. Less than 6 months later he had a stroke as a result of the heart attack.
We were very lucky that dad survived and is doing well back on his island. Other people and families have not been so lucky.
In honour of Thanksgiving I invite you to consider making donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or your local equivalent.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving (and/or Thursday)!
The final two are faced with their toughest tasks to date. They must each manage massive charity events. After battling with one another to pick "employees" to help them, one candidate coordinates a celebrity softball game, while the other transforms a downtown nightclub into a star-studded comedy event. A finalist is left reeling after a star cancellation and Mother Nature threatens to destroy the other's plans.

Candidates sing a new song when Donald Trump asks the teams to produce, write and create a song, which will play live, on-air for XM Satellite Radio.
The first order of business begins when Clay adamantly asks Trump for a change, evening out the two teams. Trump then delivers their latest task -- to choose an unsigned singer/songwriter to work with, write an original song, and supervise the production of a song to be played live, on-air for one of XM's premiere stations -- XM Cafe. Both teams will have access to professional musicians to help them out. The team whose song best fits the format of XM Cafe, as judged by XM satellite radio executives, wins.
One team hits a high note with rave reviews while the other team's song falls flat. The winning team flies with Trump in his helicopter for a private skyline tour. Back in the boardroom, Trump's frustration with the losing team is noted as he remarks, "I don't think any of you should be proud of the performance this week..."
The final four candidates are tasked to create a promotional video for one of the biggest companies in the world: Microsoft It's a dog eat dog world as one team sabotages another team's plans But does it give them the advantage? It's smooth sailing for the winners, while the losers toss tact aside in a tearful boardroom
