Head to Head Kendra & Tana
NEW YORK -- May 10, 2005 -- For the first time in the history of NBC's "The Apprentice," Donald Trump will be hiring a female as Tana and Kendra continue their quest and enter the boardroom for the first time on the penultimate episode of NBC's "The Apprentice". The episode ends in a dramatic cliffhanger paving the way for the final showdown broadcasting live from NYU's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (May 19, 9-10pm ET).
This week both Tana and Kendra run into pitfalls as they complete their final tasks. Tana, while running The NYC2012 Athlete Challenge, struggles to manage the hot tempers of Kristen, Chris and Brian and she has trouble locating an American Flag at a key moment. Kendra, who is in charge of The Best Buy Video Game Championship featuring "EA SportsTM Fight Night Round 2," is stuck with the challenge of getting Danny, Michael and Erin to maintain focus while also needing to appease PlayStation who had concerns with the design of the VIP room and threatened to pull their sponsorship.
New York Governor George Pataki joins Donald Trump at the opening of The NYC2012 Athlete Challenge, which is hosted by Bruce Jenner and features exhibitions from Olympians Michael Phelps, Justin Gatlin, Nadia Comaneci, and Bart Conner. Rap artist Fabolous serves as Master of Ceremonies at The Best Buy Video Game Championship.
"Gamers are investing time and money in gaming products and competitions such as The Best Buy Video Game Championship because they're constantly looking to elevate the quality of their experience, " said Jill Hamburger, vice president of movies, video games and toys at Best Buy. "Gaming isn't just plug and play anymore."
" 'The Apprentice' is a wonderful vehicle to highlight New York's candidacy for the Games in 2012," said six-time Olympic Gold Medallist Michael Phelps. "Set in this wonderful City and viewed by millions, competition is at the center of this program and there is no better competitive event than the Olympic Games. Everyone will be in for some great fun and surprises this Thursday evening."

I am disappointed Trump will give a HUGE event like a rally for the Olympics to one competing candidate and the other candidate gets an annual video game tournament. In reality, Tana is going to have more respect if she pulls this off because her olympic-themed task seems more important and more interesting than video games.
In my opinion, I feel Trump is being biased to who he wants to hire when its the final 2 by the tasks that he assigns. Look at Season 1, Bill had a golf tournament that Trump participated in and Kwame had a lame Jessica Simpson concert. Trump will care more about having the Olympics in New York City as opposed to a forgettable Video Game Tournament.
Trump should have the candidates draw randomly their final tasks so it is fair. I am still pulling for Kendra although I think she will not win now because of the task she was assigned.

Donald Trump was a call in guest this morning on Imus In The Morning. At one point he said that after he fired The Harvard Graduate/National Debating Champ Andy Litinsky on Episode 13 The Pepsi Challenge on Season 2 that some weeks/months later Mr.Trump had a change of heart and mind and he rehired him.So now Andy Litinsky works for The Trump Organization and is doing quite well. So there currently are 3 Apprentices to date. Bill Rancic,Kelly Perdew and Andy Litinsky. I hope that Florida Kendra will be The 4th Apprentice.

REPLY TO LEE:
I kinda agree with you dere...but in da last entry in this blog, it said the must prumlplentic firing of the season...something like that...that word means the second best......so if tana does do a good job, kendra will win.
Also: trump has a college degree, n im sure he wants someone with that to win...he will however say on may. 19th that you can stil succed without one.......n my view on street smarts vs. book smarts
it doesnt matter
both can u make u successful ..it is all abt the personal drive in bussiness..or mayb sum other things...
but as u can see from the street smarts contentens vs. the book smart contenstants...you can see that the street smart ppl look so unciviliced...tana a milf..john a badswearing problem..chris..tobacco...
i think education mite have maid the street smarts ppl better...but again
its all abt you at the end of the day...you can achieve wonders..create a goal n follow
srry abt da mistakes..really typing fast..

I wasn't all that impressed with Andy, but then there are a lot of things we don't see due to editing; but it does tend to point out he favors an education (Wharton graduate that he is). And, you do tend to speak and act slightly differently after going to college; must be all those curriculum extras they make you take.
Does anyone know what kind of degree and major (BA/BS/AS/AA) that Tana just missed getting? Might tip the scales in her favor if it's a close call tonight.

sjl, the degree that Tana just missed getting is
BMILF

Don't you know some guys wish Tana and Kendra would settle this by mud-wrestling live in see-through blouses. ABC would do it. I don't think NBC would have the guts.

Hello, Tana got a better venue because he knew he was giving her a crappy team.

I wonder if Verna is going to show up for The Live Season 3 Finale or if she is going to be a no show.

I don't believe Tana was 1 semester away from graduatin. Are you sure it's not all the way around? - meaning she went to college only for one semester?
She is 37 now, and her oldest child is 10. This means that her excuse for not completing her higher education, i.e., "I chose to have children instead", is lame. She had plenty of time to attend and finish college before she was 26. Something doesn't sound right here.

i think that the last task was unfair for Tana because they gave her a very bad teammates that doesn't know how to cooperate and follow directions and Tana's task was a lot harder than Kendra's. Tana had the olympic-themed task and Kendra got the easy task...omg..this is so unfair...i hate apprentice..
Posted by: charisse | May 12, 2005 at 09:25 PM
No matter how you look at this Tana was given the worst of her team. This isn't reality-based at all. She couldn't fire them or get replacements. For an event as big as this you would screen your key employees to make sure they do their part. There was just way too much to coordinate at an Olympic event as compared to a video game competition. Funny thing though is that Tana was in complete denial of the disaster before her.

I would like to see Erin, Stephanie, and Kendra on an FHM as Maria, Jen, Pam, and Sandy did last year. Erin would have to be on the cover though, she is the hottest.

Just finished watching the Apprentice episode 16! I'm so happy.... KENDRA DEFINITELY IS THE APPRENTICE! She won such a beautiful battle! She deserves the best... haha, now I feel kind of jealous now, I feel that DT doesn't deserve her in his company - she should be in an even better and more respected company!
But anyway, cheers to Kendra!
For those of you who don't know why I'm so excited, just watch the Apprentice exclusive videos on http://apprentice.tv.yahoo.com/03/index.html when you upload those tonight.
GO KENDRA! GO KENDRA!

Kendra is better.
Even if she had Tana's task, she still would have been better. Think about it.
Posted by: Erin (not from the apprentice) | May 12, 2005 at 10:09 PM
Well it looks like the winner is obvious.....Kendra is it.
Treats her people well
Gets the right things done
But i do have one issue....I think that being given an olympics to run is MUCH harder than running a simple small facility tournament.
Lets face it. Trump and epecially Carolyn didnt feel comfy with Tanas out of town personality. So she got "set up" .....But at the same time , the way she handled it validated their preconcieved notions.
She'll do great with QVC you just wait!

cintexmex, you couldn't have been more correct! I completely agree with everything you said. Tana had such a poor attitude, was rude to people, and put people down. She was so condescending to the other team members, and even went so far as to say that they should walk ahead because they're employees and they shouldn't walk with the executives. How awful. Kendra showed class, intelligence, and kindness. All the way!!

So... I have this theory about why they made the finale only 1 hour this season. Could it be because it was so obvious who would be chosen that NBC really did have trouble manufacturing enough drama for the finale?
It's pretty obvious that Kendra won and Tana lost. Sure, Kendra's task was probably a bit easier than Tana's. But that's like saying performing heart surgery is easier than doing brain surgery. And regardless of how easy or hard Tana's task was.... her biggest mistake was discounting and belittling her team members right from the get-go. There really was no chance for her team members to rise to the challenge and impress, nor was there an atmosphere where they would want to. Her team recognized the two-faced-ness of Tana. They really had no incentive to really help Tana.
On Kendra's side, Kendra even said herself that she had differences with some of her team members, but she knows how to get the most out of them and minimize whatever mistakes that come out of that. And Kendra makes it clear to her team members when she is not pleased with something. Agree or disagree with her, at least her team members knew where they stood with her and they understood their roles well.
Analyzing this is not rocket science at all. It's a slam dunk win for Kendra. The mystery now is what NBC will fill next week's one hour finale with. I mean... they can only postpone the obvious for so long.

Was there any doubt that Kendra would come through like a champ
She has always won over the clients, from Pontiac to PlayStation.
Everyone she works with wants to hire her.
Tana deserved what she got. A bad showing
Posted by: sg | May 12, 2005 at 10:14 PM
the pervious eipsodes and todays' show totally foreshowdows that kendra it's going to win!!!
n if she didn't win like she said before she will be DT's comptitions in a few years or so.
GO KENDRA! GO!

I don't think Tana's task is much easier. Kendra needs to do everything from ground up while for Tana a lot of things were already arranged even before she was given the task. Tana only had to understand all that was already done and think about what else needs to be done.
One thing Tana failed totally was to get brief everyone about the logistics of the event - she didn't seem to have done that and I think that's why she lost. People just got confused and frustrated.
On the other hand, Kendra did all she could to make sure everyone was on the same level - and at the same time, she made sure her clients were happy - by putting in real work. Unlike Tana, Kendra pleased her client with real work, while Tana only tried to please her client with a smile.
Come on people, be realistic. Kendra is much better than Tana. She deserves to be in a Fortune 5 company - DT doesn't even deserve her. But no doubt, she will be the Apprentice.
