A little info on Alexis Stewart - Martha's Original Apprentice

Alexis_stewart Alexis Stewart, Consultant, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. was raised in both New York City and Westport, Connecticut. Her first job was assisting her mother in her catering business where she learned first hand the ways to employ creativity and turn a passion into a profitable business. She attended Greens Farms Academy in Westport, and graduated from the Putney School in Vermont. She then returned to New York City to attend Barnard College where she graduated with a BA in English.

After graduating, Alexis Stewart then explored several entrepreneurial ventures including the construction of the upscale Bridgehampton Motel property in Bridgehampton, Long Island which she designed and operated. With a passion for exercise and yoga, Alexis Stewart recognized the Hamptons' growing need for high-end fitness centers and built the East Hampton Gym, which she ran for several years until selling it to fitness trainer Bruce Cotter. She then partnered with Cotter, and together they completely redesigned and rebuilt the Sag Harbor Gym in Sag Harbor, New York. Three years ago Alexis Stewart partnered to create the Karma Yoga Studio in New York City. This large facility, which offered many types of multi-level yoga, has since been sold to Yoga Works.

At present, in addition to her duties on "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart" and her consulting duties for MSLO, Alexis Stewart is developing Martha Stewart Living Radio for SIRIUS Satellite Radio.

Candidates

Fired

  • Leslie Sanchez - Fired 9th
    PM:1 CR:2

(Alexandria, VA ) Marketing Co. Owner -- I like to think that I share Martha’s drive, determination and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Amanda - Fired 8th
    PM:1 CR:1

(Austin, TX) Attorney-- When it comes to my work product, my Martha quality is perfectionism.
  • Howie Greenspan - Fired 8th
    PM:1 CR:3

(Closter, NJ ) Fashion Co. Owner -- I am passionate, driven and will stop at nothing to succeed. --- Howie was fired for dropping the ball, not being on the ball and not being on-air filling the ball.
  • Carrie - Fired 7th
    PM:1 CR:1

(Los Angeles, CA) Creative Director -- I do have an almost unnatural skill for organisation. -- Carrie was called out on for "Hide and Seek" as Charles called it. If things had gotten dramatic, Trump would have tossed her for a lack of loyalty... but it never really got that dramatic. (It never does).
  • Sarah Brennan - Fired 7th
    PM:1 CR:1

(Washington, DC ) Event Planner -- I’m blunt and I listen. I call things as I see them and I always have facts to back those statements up. -- Sarah was fired for a complete lack of leadership and focus on the task at hand. Silent brainstorming? Come on.
  • David Karandish - Fired 6th
    PM:1 CR:2

(Maplewood, MO) Internet Co. Owner -- My Martha quality is tenacity combined with 110% effort.
  • Jennifer Le - Fired 5th
    PM:1 CR:1

(Los Angeles, CA) Prosecutor -- When I fulfill my purpose, achieve life balance, make my profession my passion, and make this world a better place, that is when I will be at my most successful. -- Jennifer was fired because she didn't, or couldn't, manage Jim's over-the-top behaviour.
  • Dawn Silvia - Fired 4th
    CR:4

(Boston, MA) PR Consultant -- I’m driven and entrepreneurial, I’m willing to take risks, and I’ll readily make investments of time and money in things I believe in. -- 4 strikes, Dawn's out!
  • Shawn Killinger - Fired 3nd
    CR:1

(Grosse Pointe, MI ) TV Newscaster -- I'm a perfectionist and a control freak. -- Shawn was fired for 3 simple reasons: 1. she guaranteed a win; 2. she didn't use her "fake it, 'til you make it" attitude when selling a cake she didn't like; and 3. she was cocky about it all. Not a good thing.
  • Chuck Soldano - Fired 2nd
    PM:1 CR:1

(Philadelphia, PA ) Interior Designer -- My Martha qualities include creativity, resourcefulness, attention to detail... a knack for turning the ordinary into the extraordinary.

-- Chuck was in over his head, recognized it, attempted to address it constructively, and was manipulated into fighting to be fired. He won.

  • Jeff - Fired 1st
    PM:1 CR:1

(New York City, NY) Creative Director -- I am not afraid to make mistakes. I fiercely believe in the projects I undertake. I work harder than anyone else in the room.

--- Jeff was fired for taking on too much, fiercely believing in a flawed concept, and well... not being afraid to make mistakes - and then fix them.
